Meetings Diary

We meet at Dunnington Reading Rooms on a monthly basis. Start/end times will vary depending on activity.
Basic materials will be provided for beginners but please bring along an old towel and, if you have it, your felting kit.
Please note that for sessions with invited external tutors bookings will open one month before the workshop.

(First visit free) £5 for non-members. £2 members.

We normally, but not always, meet on the 3rd Saturday of the month.
Workshop bookings are open 1 month in advance.
On YFM skill share meeting days the hall will be open for members to work from 10.00am – 4.00pm. With the led skill share session starting at 12.30pm
On a tutor lead workshop day members can work on their own projects from12.30. Refer to diary.

Come along and relax at our annual social with delicious food. Bring along your work to show to fellow members.
16th February

11.30am - Committee Meeting
12.30 - 4.00pm - Mouse in the House!
Skill Share by Margaret Cooper. No need to be afraid! You will love making these cute mice in snug houses.
16th March 10.00 - 4.00pm - Workshop: Nuno Clutch Purse by Vivienne Morpeth
Vivienne will be sharing her method of nuno felting to make a vibrant clutch purse/bag using fine silks and wools.
(Room available from 12.30 for those not attending the workshop and wanting to work on own project)
27th April

11.30am - AGM.
12.30 - 4.00pm - Ruffles: Skill Share by Gill Wadsworth. A fun technique for making a lightweight scarf in an afternoon
18th May 11.30am - Committee Meeting
12.30pm - 4.00pm - Concentric Circles: Skill Share by Anne Barnard.
Using resists to make a concertina piece of felt with many uses for your projects.
15th June 10.00am - 4.00pm - Workshop: Simply Shibori by Jenny Pepper.
Jenny will be showing methods of stitching, wrapping and manipulating felt to create wonderful texture, shape and form.
(Room available from 12.30 for those not attending the workshop and wanting to work on own project)
20th July 10.00 - 5.00pm - Bishop Wilton Show
All members are invited to help on YFM stall at the Bishop Wilton Show. Volunteers wanted to demonstrate and sell our felt.
10th August
12.30 - 4.00pm - Special Session: Making Pre-felts.
An opportunity to make some interesting pre-felts for future work or for the October workshop with Joanna.
21st September

11.30am - Committee Meeting
12.30 - 4.00pm - Plump Pumpkins: Skill share by Jill Wilson
Not so long to Halloween get a head start and try your hand at Jill’s characterful pumpkins.
19th October 10.00 - 4.00pm - Folk Art Felt by Joanna O’Neill.
Joanna will be exploring a different style and effective ways of precision decoration and cutting on handmade and other felts. She will be revealing secrets and giving top tips to enhance your felt.
(Room available from 12.30 for those not attending the workshop and wanting to work on own project).
16th November 12.30 - 4.00pm - New Developments: Skill Share by Angela Anning
Be inspired by this creative skill share. Nearer the time all will be revealed!
14th December 12.30 - 4.00pm - Christmas Creations: Skill Share by Polly Gibson & Julie Lane
Last minute Christmas gifts or decorations - the choice is yours! Mince pies will be served.
